"Standing  for Waimak,
Standing for you "

Steve Wilkinson

Candidate for Council Waimakariri

Standing Together for Waimakariri

I’ve spent my career making businesses work smarter, and now I want to do the same for our Council.

With 30 years in senior executive roles—leading multi-million-dollar businesses and driving real results—I know how to manage resources efficiently, make tough decisions, and get things done. In several of my CEO roles, I reported directly to a Board of Directors, giving me a deep understanding of governance from both the executive and boardroom perspectives. I’ve also chaired two sizable not-for-profit organizations for six years each, one within the local government sector, so I understand what it takes to balance leadership, strategy, and accountability.

As a business consultant, I now work alongside local business owners every day, helping them navigate challenges, strengthen their finances, and plan for the future. I’ve also served on the Rangiora-Ashley Community Board for the past three years, and for the last eight years, I’ve been a judge for the North Canterbury Business Awards, recognizing the best in our local economy.

What makes this election even more exciting is the opportunity to stand alongside a group of experienced, skilled, and like-minded candidates under the Standing Together for Waimakariri banner. Each of us brings different strengths to the table, but we share a common goal: ensuring the Council is run with accountability, financial discipline, and a focus on community needs—not wasteful spending.

I believe Waimakariri deserves leadership that listens, makes smart decisions, and delivers results. Together, we can make that happen
