Our Position On Council Rates Increases- March 2025
As a community-focused group, Standing Together for Waimakariri is deeply concerned about the ongoing and compounding impact of rising Council rates on our residents. With rates rising by over 21% in the past three years, far outpacing the 15.7% increase in New Zealand Superannuation over the same period, the financial pressure on low and fixed-income households is becoming unsustainable.
